THE MAKING OF

IN THE BEGINNING...

The first problem was finding the right location. We needed a place that looked like a real forest for 11 inch people.

The second was convincing Meredith's mom to let us dig up that tree so we could put the lake in and cut down a majority of the bushes for a campsite.

Problem three... you guessed it, the septic tank. We thought it smelled kind of funny when we were digging up the tree, but we didn't know what it was until after we started shooting.

Once you got passed the smell it was all right, until the mutant snails began to infultrate the set.

...AND THEN THERE WAS LAKE HARMONY

Due to the constant traffic of pets and gardners (who by the way are still pissed about the tree -- they just couldn't appreciate the irony of digging up a tree to make a movie called "Earth Day") we were forced to strike the set every night and cover it with the blue tarp.

We faced the perils of rain, sprinklers, dogs and mutant snails magically appearing on our sleeves.

On the night we began shooting the P.J. and Ace death scene, it began to rain. We were forced to relocate to the garage. With only a broken down cardboard box, a bag full of dirt, a few more unearthed plants and the tree stump, we managed to finish indoors.

Can you tell which one is inside and which is out?

IN THE END

Earth Day took about one month to shoot. After long hours at our day jobs, we'd treck out to Meredith's mom's house for an even longer night of shooting. After all is said and done, we had a lot of fun and we'd do it again!
